54th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women
takes place from 1 - 12 March 2010 in New York. This year’s session will focus on a fifteen-year review of the implementation of the
Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action in line with the 15th anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action by the General Assembly.

3rd CSO Forum on the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child
will take place on March 11-13, 2010. in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The forum provides an avenue for Civil Society Organizations to discuss and monitor on progress made in the implementation of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child

15th Session of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child
is scheduled to take place from 15th-19th March, 2010 in, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The CRADLE - The Children's Foundation is a non-profit making and non-governmental organization committed to the protection, promotion and enhancement of the rights of the child through court representation, advocacy and law reform. The CRADLE institutionalized in 1999 by setting up a pilot and the first legal aid clinic of its kind for children and has since continued protecting and promoting the rights of the child to date

Updates

The CRADLE implements project on child trafficking>>>
entitled 'Buidling the Dream: Saving the African Child from Traffiking,' with support from the European Union and Kindernothilfe Germany. The project which commenced in March 2009 seeks to create awareness on child trafficking and child rights and to contribute to the reduction of child trafficking in Kenya and Africa. Under this project, The CRADLE is also providing direct legal and psychosocial support to child victims of trafficking.

Kenya submits first stakholders report under the Universal Periodic Reporting (UPR) Process
>>>Kenya Stakeholders UPR report was submitted to the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights. The report was prepared by the Kenya Stakeholders’ Coalition for the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) comprising of 97 national and international organisations and institutions working on human rights and development concerns facilitated by the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights The report covers the period between 2006 and 2010 within which Kenya is set to be reviewed. Strengthening Access to Justice through Legal Sector Development Program in Eastern Africa (SAJEA)
.The SAJEA programme, which is funded by Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), seeks to strengthen the ability of justice system stakeholders to address issues related to access to justice and to increase collaboration among justice system stakeholders to improve access to justice.
