On December 4th 2000, the United Nations General Assembly decided that from 2001, June 20th would be celebrated as World Refugee Day. This day is to honor the courage, strength and determination of men, women and children who are forced to flee their homeland under the threat of persecution, conflict and violence. It is a day to celebrate and recognize the contributions of refugees in their communities.

Day of the African Child is on June 16 – when events will be held all over the continent and around the world.
The Day of the African Child (DAC) 2016 will be observed Under the theme “ Conflict and Crisis in Africa: Protecting all Children’s Rights” .

This day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 on the day that United Nations Conference on the Human Environment began. World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5th June to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and planet earth. It is run by the UNEP. This day is one of the principal channels that the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF INNOCENT CHILDREN VICTIMS OF AGGRESSION

The International day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression is celebrated on 4th June of every year. The purpose of this day is to acknowledge the pain suffered by children throughout the world who are victims of physical, mental and emotional abuse. This day is also to celebrate individuals and organizations working to protect and preserve the rights of children.

June 1st was proclaimed to be the International Children’s Day back in 1925 in a bid to draw attention to children’s issues. It was proclaimed by the World Conference for the Well-being of Geneva, Switzerland.

 

 

From 17th  – 23th April 2016

The Ministry of Devolution and Planning with support from UNICEF Kenya Country office launched a programme to strengthen Communication for Development (C4D) capacities at national and county government level in 2015. In this regard, UNICEF Kenya has contracted the services of a C4D consulting group to roll out the programme. 33 C4D trained trainers drawn from Government Departments, Non-Governmental Organisations and UNICEF have been invited for the trainers learning lab phase 2 from 17th – 23rd April 2016. It is expected that the Trained Trainers will support the roll-out of the Mulit-year C4D capacity development plan.
